The Indian Society for Surface Science and Technology is an organization for the cultivation,interaction and dissemination of knowledge in the field of surface science and technology. It also strives to promote Industry-Academia interaction.

An executive committee consisted of the elected and nominated members look after the activities of the Society.  The  President is the executive head of the Society.

Publishing a quarterly international journal (Journal of Surface Science and Technology) with an International Editorial Board is the prime activity of the Society .The journal covers theoretical and basic aspects of colloid and interface science and its related applications in technology.Publication of conference proceedings and monographs is also undertaken by the Society from time to time.

The Society organizes national conferences,seminars , invited talks and workshops at different parts of India, which are attended by active researchers in the fields of surface science and technology.It also organizes international conferences on contemporay topics of surface science at regular intervals.

The endowment lectures, instituted by the society, are delivered at the conferences.
